I’ve spent the greater part of my career working in the social housing sector. Initially as an accountant, but in latter years in wider ICT and corporate service roles. I’ve long been interested in all things technology (I have ZX81 somewhere in the under stairs cupboard), so in 2008 I decided to scratch that itch more fully. I went to work as the Chief Operating Officer in a technology business. It was an exhilarating (and exhausting) time, and I learned loads of new things: how great software gets built, how sales teams operate, and to be careful what you wish for!
I’m now back in the social housing sector as Corporate Services Director at Thames Valley Housing Association, using the stuff I learned on the outside to help build our digital service delivery .
My husband (known to friends on twitter as The Sidster) and I are both keen motorcyclists and skiers. Aside from Denis the dog, our biggest passion at the moment is our building project in France: a ski chalet. At the moment, its a building site, but we’re on track to finish it by December 2014. Initially we’ll rent it out as a self-catering chalet (when we’re not using it), but eventually, we’ll go live there permanently. London’s been fun, work has been fun, but we’re nearly ready for another way of living.
